What's the difference between a therapist and a friend?
Just because you can carry a football does not mean you are a quarterback. Likewise, just because you can give advice to someone does not mean you are a therapist. All of us as humans have brains that do a lot of thinking and feel countless emotions. If you need help and want to talk to someone, those that care about you will, of course, want to be there for you and help you in any way they can. People have opinions about everything, but those without the proper training and knowledge cannot give the correct advice necessary to help others. Everyone's outlook on life is shaped uniquely and everyone has a distinct perspective of each situation. In order to make the step to get professional help, one has to realize that his or her friends do not always have the solution, even if they think they might.
